Here are a few things to consider now that your crown has been cemented in place.
- Delay chewing on it immediately for the first hour to allow the cement to fully cure. After this period, you can resume normal chewing.
- Occasionally a new crown can make your gingival tissues and teeth slightly sensitive to chewing and to cold. In almost all cases the sensitivity will go away completely – usually in a few days.
- If symptoms persist, over the counter pain medication such as Advil or Tylenol is recommended.
- Allow a few weeks for your tongue to get used to the anatomical shape of your new crown.
- Remember to avoid chewing ice, hard and sticky candy or anything that can cause your crown to come off.
- Remember to use an occlusal guard if one has been prescribed for Nocturnal Bruxism/ Clenching.
- Sometimes a bite adjustment is needed on a new restoration.
Please call our office promptly if your bite feels uneven and you need an occlusal adjustment.
